Garth Nix Author Event - Thursday 30th March, 2017
Dear Parent,
Our school has been chosen to host a book event, featuring the author, Garth Nix, on Thursday 30th March. Garth, who is over from Australia for less than a week, to promote his new book, is one of the best children’s fantasy writers in the world and we are delighted that he is not only coming to Bolton but coming to our school. Mr Melling and I have both heard Garth speak before and we know that the children are in for a really rewarding experience. The event will be held in the Arts Theatre from 1.00- 3.00pm and we are inviting selected students from years 7 and 8 who have done well in our Accelerated Reader scheme to take part.
The event is free to attend but there will be the opportunity to purchase a book for Garth to sign and personalise. There is no obligation to buy a book but children usually treasure signed books they buy at author events and it is a great way to motivate them to go on to read more. The end of the session will be mainly for Garth to sign copies of his books, so students who are not buying books should bring their normal equipment for period 5 with them as they will be going back to class once the talk is over.
His new hardback book ‘Frogkisser’ will be on sale at the event at the reduced price of £10. If you would like to pre-order a copy of his new book, to ensure we have sufficient copies for your child, please complete the tear-off slip below and return it to me with cash or cheque for £10, made payable to Silverwood Events, by Tuesday 28th March. Copies will be on sale on the day as well if your child wants to wait until the event to buy one.
If you have any queries you can contact me in school between 8.15 am and 4.00 pm or via email sprawlingj@turton.uk.com.
Yours sincerely
