Swim Success
Since September the weekly training sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays after school has been a roaring success with pupils from all years attending with an aim to improve their technique, stamina, fitness and make friends.
Commitment from pupils has been fantastic. Initially for some I think the training regime was a bit of a shock as they thought it was just going to be a chill swim session. I regularly have over 40 pupils attending and the improvement has been staggering. Not only in terms of technique and ability but with some improving their times by 8secs over 50m.
After a few months of training at the back end of 2016 I organised a friendly competition against Canon Slade for years 7 & 8 – Juniors and 9 and 10 - Inters. All involved worked really hard and were a joy to be around. Having seen the competition the pupils were keen to continue with training and eager for another meet to be arranged.
On 24th January we entered the Bolton Schools Swimming Championships at Bolton One. Due to exams and revision the senior’s event was held separately at Bolton School on 31st. All teams swum extremely well with numerous swimmers achieving personal bests and the support and encouragement between all competitors was great. Sadly for the seniors we only had a boys team but they certainly did not disappoint allowing us to bring home the trophy after5yrs.

Training continues on both Wednesday & Thursday evening 3-4pm. I am looking to organise a further friendly competition against Canon Slade in February and in addition a water polo event.
