As you approach the end of term we are providing travel information, advice and guidance for schools, parents and pupils for the next academic year.

We know this is a busy time of year for you and appreciate any effort to help share this message before the end of term. Please pass this on to any relevant members of staff that support your communications.

Our updated ‘Travelling to school’ webpage offers a ‘one stop shop’ for travel information, including a new ‘Back to School’ checklist. The page also links out to a bespoke travel webpage for your school, with more detailed and localised information, including any school bus services.

Please use the messages below in your emails, newsletters, social media and any other ways you connect with and speak to parents/guardians and pupils. Thank you for your support.

‘Start thinking about travel and transport for next year’

 

Don’t leave it to the last minute to start thinking about how you’ll get to school (or college if you are moving on) next year. Make sure you visit the new TfGM schools webpage to find out everything you need to know about walking, cycling, bus and tram travel.

Information for students, parents and guardians

Please consider using the articles below in your communications with students and parents/guardians.

Igo card applications and summer drop-in sessions

If you’re 11-16 you’ll need an igo card to travel using child tickets on buses and trams in Greater Manchester.

We’re on hand to help at five pop-up stalls at interchanges across Greater Manchester this summer. Simply drop by between 10am – 2pm to speak to staff and get your application in early:

  1. Friday 19 July: Bolton Interchange
  2. Thursday 25 July: Bury Interchange
  3. Friday 2 August: Altrincham Interchange
  4. Wednesday 7 August: Stockport Interchange
  5. Wednesday 14 August: Shudehill Interchange

 

Make sure you bring:

 

  1. A passport-sized colour photo of the child that’s applying.
  2. Proof of name and age of the child applying: a copy (not original) of your birth certificate, adoption certificate, medical card, passport or EU/EEA card. Please do not bring original documents.
  3. Payment (for the £10 fee).

 

You can also apply for an igo card by post or at an Information and Ticket Office. Visit beenetwork.com/igo for more information.

It can take up to two weeks to process your igo card application, so make sure you apply in plenty of time for the start of the new term.

 

School Leavers (Year 11) - ‘Our Pass’

If you’re 16-18 and a school leaver starting college or sixth form in September you can now apply for ‘Our Pass’ to get free bus travel across Greater Manchester.

Visit ourpass.co.uk to watch a video showing how to apply and be sure to get your application in early to have it for the start of term.
