Meet author Holly Bourne (Friday 28th September)

Dear Parent

We are delighted that your child has been invited to attend a special event with multi award winning author Holly Bourne, sponsored by her publisher Usborne books, in the Arts Theatre during period 5 on Friday 28 September.

As a memento of this celebration, your child will have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of her books, including “Are We All Lemmings & Snowflakes?”.

Bourne is intensely readable and writes with compassion, insight and humour.
Fiona Noble, The Observer

“Holly Bourne applies her inimitable surreal humour to the dark reaches of the disordered mind… Olive’s passionate desire to spread a ‘kindness virus’ is tremendously endearing as she flies the flag for courage and altruism.”
The Guardian

To take advantage of this opportunity they would need to bring money with them. If wishing to pay by cheque, these should be made payable to ‘Silverwood Book Events’. A selection of books, including the new title will be available priced at £7.00 (rrp £7.99) or a special offer of any three for £20.  Pupils are often inspired to read the author’s books after hearing them talk about their work and we have copies in the school library for pupils who are unable to buy their own copy.

Holly Bourne is an author and a journalist. Holly's first two books, “Soulmates” and “The Manifesto on How to be Interesting”, have been critically acclaimed and translated into six languages. The first book in the Spinster Club series, “Am I Normal Yet?” was chosen as a World Book Night book for 2016 and was shortlisted for the YA Book Prize. The Spinster Club series has also inspired the formation of Spinster Clubs across the UK and Ireland.  Research shows that author events in schools inspire children and help them on their journey to a love of reading.

“The impact of an author visiting shouldn’t be underestimated. These are the types of things that people talk about when you ask them what they remember about school.”

The Times

We hope your child will hugely enjoy and benefit greatly from this visit.

Yours sincerely
