Podium finish for Year 9s at the Physics Olympics 2016

A team of four Year 9 pupils (Adam Brierley, Joe Earnshaw, Josh Ryder, Ed Webster) competed against schools from around the region in the Physics Olympics held at Bolton School Boys Division on Wednesday 2nd March. The competition comprised of six events and a set of problem solving tasks, including constructing a turbine to turn a generator to produce the highest possible voltage in the Generation X challenge; they also built and launched an air-powered rocket in the Pressure Bullseye challenge; Sink or Swim, saw them using marbles, testing their understanding of buoyancy. The team achieved second place in two of the challenges and beat teams from Bolton School, ESSA and Westhoughton to finish in 3rd place overall.
