Current Affairs and Personal Development Curriculum

Our Current Affairs and Personal Development curriculum aims to develop societal awareness, good character and emotional intelligence in our students.  The world is a fast-moving place, international events and social influencers are a powerful voice in the lives of our students.  We need teach CAPD to educate our students.  We aim to ensure that all aspects of a child’s personal development, character development and mental and physical health development is delivered through and across subject curricula – with some aspects being focussed on more specifically, in form time.

Our first Current Affairs and Personal Development (CAPD) week runs from 10^th to 14^th November.  Students will be discussing friendship (year 7), prejudice and racism (year 8), relationships and consent (year 9), consent, sexual assault, sexism, misogyny, gender stereotypes (year 10) and consent and equality (year11).  These are important discussions and are covered respectfully.  They are though provoking discussions and I know parents will continue to support these discussions at home.
