Making Charity Count

Making Charity Count

Here at Turton we are always looking at fun ways to support and promote the amazing work of charities, encourage entrepreneurship and collaboration.

Towards the end of last year Ms Robinson, Mr Bennett and a number of pupils organised a number of events aimed to do just this.

Firstly we had the fantastic Mad Hatters themed bake Sale in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.  Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face and as treatments improve more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives.

We had an amazing team of helpers from across all years who helped by creating decorations, promoting the event in assemblies and baking cakes a plenty.  Senior leadership got involved and baked some wonderful and extremely tasty cakes, resulting in a truly fantastic event.

The event took place at break time and we managed to raise a fantastic £320!  This just goes to show what a difference we can make in such a short period of time.  The money you helped raise will make sure no-one has to face cancer alone, from the moment they’re diagnosed through to treatment and beyond.

Thanks to all involved!

More recently it was the ever popular Christmas Jumper Day.  As always this is always extremely popular and staff and pupils alike love getting into the festive spirit.  Funds raised during this event are to be put towards creating social spaces in school to help pupils relax and enjoy their breaks and lunch times.

Dressed in their silliest, sparkliest or cosiest Christmas woollies the pupils had the opportunity to get a mug shot in a fun photo booth.  With the addition of tinsel, lights and funny props the kids had great fun and the event was a huge success.

In total we raised a massive £850.80  - well done to all for getting involved and here’s to next year!
